Paris Arrivals

There’s a hollowed out feeling one gets after bone-weary overseas travel. My antidote: 1. taking a quick nap behind sunglasses in the backseat of a car zooming into the center Paris, 2. waking up just as it approaches the gray, sloping buildings at the core of the city, and 3. emerging a few hours after collapsing into bed, for a 1 p.m. breakfast of a fluffy omelette and soft baguette with that reassuring crunch on the edges.

Then, when raw fatigue starts to hit again, grab a hot, caffeinated beverage at Café Kitsuné. Enjoy it on a green chair sunning with the Saturday crowd in the Jardin du Palais Royal around the grand, center fountain. Take your final sip in front of this view on the Seine and forget about sleep all together until your hooded eyes can resist no more and 2 a.m. comes calling.
