What is the pain of feeling?
Can you measure it in a cup
or shape it with your hand
Heat it on a stove
or filter it through a sieve
Inspiration
A Poem for February 18th: Winter Is an Introvert
Winter is an introvert
She sent me a postcard last year
but when I went to call on her
I peered through her ice-covered
windows to the swirling glow inside
A Poem for February 16th: The Exuberant Sun
When will the sun appear
through this chaotic echo
of owls and howls
a dusty vortex blanketed
by the inky black sky
A Poem for February 11th
Does a heart know the answer that
the mind does not?
It thumps from left to right
and sizzles when happy
quiets to a whisper when at peace
and throbs with longing as wide as the sky
A Poem for February 7th: The Rain Dance of the Lightkeepers
Drenched in a balmy cascade of
emerald drops flicking off leaves and trees
into a puddle in the
curious palm of my open hand
so abundant it overflowed
from the tips of my hope-drinking fingers
A Poem for February 5th
I’d rather be splashing through the ocean
salt gliding off my slick soft skin
invigorated by the encouraging
fireball above me
that soaks into my outstretched arms
and makes me feel more certain
of humans’ place as sophisticated mammals
than your fluorescent lights ever will
