I’ve always loved writing poetry, and I realized today that hope exists in words that we share with others. The world is going through much turmoil. This is a poem for a January morning.

The Earth hears what’s true
Buzzing in my ear
when the world is tearing down
the façade of gentility it
wore
like a frayed lace apron
the stains were too deep to cover
and shone through the white
Buzzing in my ear
when the world is on fire
the cool drip of water too narrowed and inattentive
to splash out the depths of blazing hate
Buzzing in my ear
when hope is no longer perched on the windowsill
but rather the spirits of innocent souls ring out the new year
their angel voices rising up to remind
us angels do live on Earth
Buzzing in my ear
the vibrations are strong
waking me up to the earthquake of emotions that
thunders in the heart of the Earth
How are we to keep this planet running to the light?
Buzzing in my ear
tells me the guided path is toward the starlight,
and it always was that way in the dark.
