Today’s daily poem for inspiration is a poem I’ve written about not paying attention to the limits society places on us. We should always pursue our dreams, especially when anyone says it’s impossible.

Swimming in the Sky
Do you fly through the river or swim in the sky?
I’d like to know as I curve and dive through the air,
the kind-hearted wind gentle against my cheeks,
my lithe tawny limbs caressed by the
soft nuzzle of a cloud gliding by
Do you fly through the river or swim in the sky?
I heard that rivers were too deep and
skies too high to fly
Yesterday drops cascaded off my body
as I lifted from an unending indigo basin
flushed as the river dolphin that transformed from
grey to rose and joined my ascension to the edge
where I filled my lungs with thirsty joy
Do you fly through the river or swim in the sky?
I heard that rivers were too deep and
skies too high to fly
Why then am I pushing upwards to the sky?
